Are you looking for a supplemental position to your current job? Are you just looking for a new job in general? BVC Network Solutions is hiring for a VPT (Very Part Time) Network Technician to assist with ICT installations and network troubleshooting & repair for small to large corporations.
While we have our own clients that we provide services to, we also contract with multiple larger MSPs who have nationwide clients. It is in this area where we’re looking to add to our staff. We are looking for technicians who can service these calls on a timely basis. Don’t worry, you won’t be called last minute for a job and then be in trouble if you can’t make it. Most of the time, these jobs are planned in advance. Read below for more details and decide if this is the position you’d like to fill:
Hours & Working Environment:
Most work is performed between 8am and 5pm M-F. Some weekend work may be needed. You’ll always know the schedule in advance. A good chunk of the work is in office/commercial space, but we also serve the construction and industrial areas. PPE will be provided for those locations where it is required. Many of these jobs only take 1-3 hours, which is why this position is advertised as Very Part Time. It is not recommended that your purchase your own tools. There are just too many risks involved. All tools are company provided and must be returned after each job.
Job Locations
Because North Iowa is such a rural area, most job sites require travel to more populated metro areas such as Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Davenport.
If you don’t mind traveling, this would be a great fit. We get a lot of work in Colorado and as a Federal Government Contractor, we get to travel to all 50 states. To date, we’ve been to Alaska, Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Montana, California, just to name a few.

Pay/Benefits
Pay: This is the most important aspect of any job. Pay range for this position is $22-$28 starting and based on experience. We currently do not offer any health benefits. Looking to change that in the future as the business grows. Government jobs always pay out at SCA rates + Fringe as a Telecommunications Mechanic I. You can find those published rates as SAM.gov
Travel: When you are the driver, you will get paid Driver Rates to the job site. If you are in your own vehicle instead of the company vehicle, you will also get reimbursed for fuel. BVC pays for airfare and shared hotel when needed. If you opt not to bunk with another employee, you are responsible for your own room. Certain government jobs do not allow bunking and in those instances, full travel is paid for. Make sure you have your ID updated to a REAL ID. This May, it will be required for air travel.
Meals: When on a jobsite more than 4 hours from the office, your lunch will be company paid for. Jobs less than 4 hours from the office, meals can be company paid at the PM discretion. Government and out of state jobs, you will get a company card with minimum $30/day (adjusted for locations) for lunch and dinner. Most hotels provide breakfast.

Is this job right for you?
Only you can make that decision. If you’re interested in learning a new type of work, and like to travel, this would be a great position.
However, if limited hours is the deal breaker, we understand. As a small business, we’re trying to grow. Rural Iowa isn’t the best place, but we’re making it work.
